My school bus is a country one, going around the villages where I live before heading into town to drop us off at our respective schools.
We’ve had this younger guy driving the bus for a while now. He’s really nice and knows what grade I’m in and asks me about how I’m going with my work, exams and the like. We don’t have big conversations, just little things like that.
The first stop of a morning is one of the primary schools, where probably the least amount of kids go. The bus driver stops just before the pedestrian crossing for the kids to use.
But unlike our old bus driver, he literally parks the bus, steps out, and waits on the crossing until all the kids are safely on the other side, making sure all incoming traffic can see there are people crossing.
This isn’t really needed - there are flashing lights and school zone signs warning drivers to slow down, and there hasn’t been an accident before. But he does it anyway, just to be safe.
And I really wanted to take a moment to appreciate my bus driver, a quiet but genuinely nice guy.
I would appreciate it if you shared this, because I feel that there are many people out there like my bus driver who do little things that can make the world a better place, and that they deserve some recognition.
